Stormy Skye, Fawn, Phoenix, Pretty, Birdie, Kimchi, and Rickey Henderson all found their forever homes this month. Seven happy endings, and we kept right on rescuing while we celebrated them.

We don't love asking for money, but between rescuing Doris and Maple, Walter and Hope's surgeries, Phoenix's boarding, and Shawshank's training, the bills are real. If you can spare $5 (or more), it genuinely helps.

Our Co-Founder and Director of Field Operations, Marc, turned 50 — the guy who handles the driving, lifting, and late nights of rescue that most people never see, and without whom The Comeback Pack wouldn't exist in the way it does.

Every dog adopted from The Comeback Pack now gets a free doggy meal at Baily's Old Town in Temecula, and the humans get 10% off their next check. A thank-you to a local business that chose to celebrate rescue dogs with us.

A new volunteer role for people who can't foster or adopt: post our adoptable dogs to the Nextdoor and Facebook groups you already belong to. We supply the photos and write-ups, you share when you have a few minutes, and we handle every application from there.

Rickey and Dumplin' have had zero adoption applications, so we're trying something new: a completely free, no-pressure 2-week trial to foster or adopt either of these good boys — crate and supplies included.

Dumplin' was the shelter's longest-waiting resident, and even now that he's safe with us, he hasn't had a single adoption inquiry. He's sweet, smart, house trained, and great with dogs, kids, and cats — help us get him seen.

From being dumped as a tiny puppy to growing into a spunky, hilarious little guy, Dean made one incredible comeback — and now he's starting his best chapter yet with a family who adores him. It's The Comeback Pack's very first adoption.

Thanks to the generosity of Susan D., every adoption now unlocks a $100 donation to The Comeback Pack, and every newly approved foster unlocks another $50 — plus a free beer and grilled cheese sandwich from Grey Iron Brewing and Temecula Grilled Cheese Co. And Dean has officially been adopted — his brother Sam is still looking for his forever family. Update, August 27, 2026: the program has raised $550 so far.

The IRS has officially recognized The Comeback Pack as a 501(c)(3) public charity, effective July 13, 2026 — donations are now tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. In just three weeks of operating, the brand-new foster-based rescue has already saved six dogs.

Two four-week-old puppies were dumped and came into our care together — too young to be separated. We put out the call for a local foster home near Temecula to give them a safe place to land.
