About Us

In 2005, while pursuing a graduate degree in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jen began volunteering with a large animal shelter in Santa Clara County, California.

What started as helping at adoption events quickly became a lifelong passion for animal rescue.

Over the years, Jen served in many different roles, including adoption counselor, education coordinator, fundraising event coordinator, volunteer coordinator, and advocate for national animal protection initiatives. She also helped coordinate fundraising events for one of the largest shelters in Central California.

More than fifteen years ago, while volunteering at an overcrowded shelter, Jen witnessed wonderful dogs being placed on euthanasia lists—not because they were aggressive or beyond help, but simply because there wasn't enough room.

That experience changed everything.

It sparked a passion not only for rescuing individual dogs, but also for addressing the root causes of pet overpopulation through education, responsible pet ownership, spay and neuter advocacy, and helping families access resources before surrender becomes their only option. Those same principles continue to guide everything we do today.

Soon came Taco.

Taco wasn't just another rescue dog—he became Jen's very first foster.

He was followed by a frightened mama dog and her newborn puppies, and without realizing it at the time, fostering would become a lifelong commitment.

Every foster taught new lessons.

Every adoption reinforced why rescue matters.

And every goodbye made room to save another life.

When Jen and Marc built a life together, rescue naturally became part of their family's story.

Together they volunteered with dog rescues, cared for cats and kittens at sanctuary organizations, fostered countless puppies and kittens, and opened their home to animals of every size, breed, age, and personality.

As their children grew up, rescue simply became part of everyday life.

Instead of only growing up with family pets, they grew up bottle-feeding kittens, socializing puppies, comforting frightened dogs, attending adoption events, celebrating adoption days, and learning that compassion is something you practice.

Rescue wasn't just something Mom and Dad did.

It became part of who we are as a family.

Over the years, our family has fostered hundreds of dogs and cats. Some stayed only a few days. Others stayed for months while they healed physically or emotionally. Every one of them taught us something, and every one of them left a permanent mark on our hearts.

After moving to Riverside County, our family's involvement in rescue grew even deeper.

The shelter crisis in Southern California is unlike anything we had experienced before. Every day, incredible dogs were losing their lives simply because shelters had run out of space.

As our experience grew, so did our willingness to take on the dogs that many others overlooked.

The seniors.

The blind dogs.

Tripods.

Paraplegic dogs.

One-eyed dogs.

Medical cases.

Pregnant moms.

Bottle babies.

Owner surrenders whose families desperately loved them but simply couldn't afford lifesaving veterinary care.

Dogs facing euthanasia because there simply wasn't enough space.

We've fostered everything from tiny Chihuahuas to giant breeds, from newborn puppies to hospice seniors, from healthy dogs to those requiring months of specialized medical care and rehabilitation.

Along the way, we discovered something remarkable.

The dogs who wait the longest are often the ones with the biggest hearts.

Those are the dogs who changed us.

Over the past two decades, we've been fortunate to work alongside some truly incredible people.

We've helped develop foster programs, foster manuals, adoption protocols, rescue contracts, educational resources, fundraising events, photography programs, volunteer training, adoption counseling, and community outreach initiatives.

Every rescue organization taught us something.

Every mentor shaped the way we approach rescue today.

Those experiences have become the foundation upon which The Comeback Pack was built.

One of the greatest blessings of spending more than twenty years in rescue has been the relationships we've built along the way.

Rescue is never the work of one person or one organization. Every life saved represents the efforts of countless people working together.

Throughout the years, we've developed trusted relationships with veterinary hospitals, veterinary specialists, nonprofit foundations that help fund lifesaving medical care, local shelters, rescue organizations, transport volunteers, trainers, photographers, and countless other dedicated animal advocates.

Those partnerships have become one of The Comeback Pack's greatest strengths.

When a dog needs emergency surgery, specialized medical care, behavioral support, transport, or another rescue's expertise, we don't have to start from scratch. We have an incredible network of compassionate professionals and organizations who share the same mission: giving animals every possible chance to succeed.

We are deeply grateful for every veterinarian, rescue partner, shelter professional, volunteer, donor, transporter, and supporter who has trusted us over the years.

We believe rescue is strongest when organizations collaborate, share resources, celebrate one another's successes, and put the needs of the animals ahead of everything else.

At the end of the day, it isn't about whose logo is on the paperwork.

It's about getting another dog safely home.

Eventually, we realized something.

For more than twenty years, we had been preparing for this.

The Comeback Pack wasn't created simply to start another rescue.

It was created because, after more than twenty years in rescue, we recognized a need for an organization dedicated to giving extraordinary second chances to dogs facing extraordinary circumstances.

By the time The Comeback Pack officially launched, it wasn't the beginning of our rescue journey—it was the continuation of one that had been unfolding for more than two decades.

We weren't starting from scratch.

We were building upon years of hands-on rescue experience, trusted partnerships, proven protocols, and lessons learned from hundreds of animals and the remarkable people who helped save them.

We are incredibly fortunate to be part of a community filled with dedicated rescue organizations, shelters, veterinarians, volunteers, and advocates who work tirelessly to save lives every day. We believe every organization brings unique strengths to this mission, and we are proud to stand alongside them in serving the animals who need us most.

Our passion has always been the dogs whose stories seem impossible.

The medically complex.

The special-needs dogs.

The owner surrenders who deserve compassion instead of judgment.

The dogs on euthanasia lists.

The forgotten seniors.

The puppies born into an already overwhelming pet overpopulation crisis.

We saw a need for a rescue dedicated to these dogs—one that combines experienced foster care, thoughtful placement, strong veterinary partnerships, and a deep commitment to giving every dog the opportunity to thrive.

That vision became The Comeback Pack.

Every dog who enters our care deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and hope.

Every adopter deserves honesty, education, and support.

Every foster deserves guidance and appreciation.

Every volunteer deserves to feel valued.

Every partner deserves respect and collaboration.

We believe rescue is about more than saving dogs after they've entered the shelter system. Whenever possible, it's also about helping families access the resources they need to keep the pets they already love.

And every dog—regardless of age, breed, medical condition, disability, or past—deserves the chance to write a new chapter.

We often say that rescue takes a village. After more than twenty years, we've been fortunate to find ours.
