$5 Friday: Six Dogs, One Very Real Vet Bill
We've resisted jumping on the $5 Friday bandwagon. Rescue isn't a gimmick, and we really don't love asking for money. But here we are, officially calling it: today is $5 Friday, because bills are piling up.
Here's some news we've been sitting on: we're rescuing Doris and Maple. We couldn't leave them behind, but we don't have foster homes for them yet, so for now they're headed into paid boarding.
On top of that, Walter and Hope both just came through major oral surgeries, Phoenix is still in boarding while she waits for the right home, and Shawshank is in training, learning everything he needs to be his best self. Add in the everyday costs of rescue — food, medications, vaccines, supplies, and vet care — and it adds up fast.
Our boarding, veterinary, and training partners are incredibly generous with discounts, but discounted bills are still bills. If you can spare $5, $10, $20, or whatever feels comfortable, it genuinely helps — it could cover soft food for Walter and Hope while their mouths heal, another day of boarding, a bag of dog food, or part of Shawshank's training.
We know not everyone has money to spare right now, and we would never want anyone giving what they need for themselves or their family. But if you do have a few dollars, we would be incredibly grateful.
Zelle is our preferred donation method since it's instant and fee-free: thecomebackpack@gmail.com. You can also give through Venmo (@TheComebackPack) or PayPal (The Comeback Pack).
And to everyone who has already donated, shared, fostered, transported, volunteered, or otherwise helped us keep saying yes when a dog needs us: you are angels.
