Mary Ann
Mary Ann is the one and only girl among Ginger's three newborn puppies, born just before her mama walked out of the shelter with her whole litter on 2026-09-02. Like her brothers Gilligan and Skipper, she was named for a crew of famous castaways. She's eating, growing, and being ridiculously tiny in her foster home, and she is now accepting adoption applications.

Welcome Aboard
September 7, 2026Meet Mary Ann, our one and only girl. Mama Ginger gave us two boys and one girl, and naturally, we had to give this little crew names worthy of their adventure. We're happy to report that everyone is doing amazing: the babies are eating and growing, and Mama is eating well and taking such wonderful care of her little beans. Right now, her days consist mostly of eating, sleeping, snuggling, and being ridiculously tiny. But before we know it, those little eyes will open, those wobbly legs will get moving, and she will turn into an actual puppy with a personality all her own. She has an incredibly gentle mama and has been safely and appropriately handled with love literally since the day she was born. She will be ready for adoption in about seven weeks, but for now, we get the absolute joy of watching she grow.

A Little Scare, and Good News
September 29, 2026A little bit of a scare this morning: Mary Ann somehow injured her paw overnight, most likely because Mama Ginger accidentally stepped on her tiny foot. Since she's so small, we weren't taking any chances, so off to the vet she went for X-rays. Good news — nothing is broken. She stretched some ligaments in her little foot, so she'll be sporting a wrap for a while along with plenty of rest and snuggles. We're very relieved our little girl is okay.
Accepting Adoption Applications
October 23, 2026Three little castaways are officially accepting adoption applications! Skipper, Gilligan, and Mary Ann are ready to find their forever families. Their story started with quite the surprise: their mama, Ginger, was at the shelter when staff arrived one morning to discover she'd given birth to three beautiful babies. Nobody even knew she was pregnant! A shelter is no place for a mama and her newborn puppies, so we rushed over and rescued the entire family. They've been growing up in a loving foster home ever since. Mary Ann is our beautiful little girl. She's gentle, affectionate, and as sweet as they come! All three are shepherd mixes, born September 1, 2026. They've been raised around dogs, cats, kids, and adults, and they're used to being held, cuddled, kissed, and absolutely adored. They're incredibly affectionate, well-socialized puppies with the sweetest dispositions, just like their mama. Ginger weighs approximately 45 pounds, and we estimate her puppies will be around 50 to 60 pounds fully grown. Important adoption information: we are located in Murrieta, California, and accepting applications now. Preference will be given to qualified local adopters. Spaying or neutering between 4 and 6 months of age is a strict adoption requirement. This is nonnegotiable. As a rescue, we take our responsibility to prevent unwanted litters very seriously, and we ask that applicants be fully committed to this requirement. These three little island babies have known nothing but love since the day they were born, and we're determined to make sure the rest of their lives are just as wonderful.
Officially Available
October 26, 2026Mary Ann is officially available for adoption! At just 8 weeks old, she and her brothers Skipper and Gilligan are already off to an incredible start in life, thanks in large part to their amazing mama, Ginger. Mary Ann is our beautiful little girl. These puppies have been lovingly handled and socialized with people since day one, and they've grown up surrounded by love, attention and other animals. They're happy, affectionate, well-socialized puppies who are great with kids, cats and other dogs. This is going to sound like a lie, but we haven't received a single application for any of Ginger's babies. Because the puppies are still so young, we're looking for families where someone is home the majority of the day to provide the love, guidance, attention and training that puppies need to thrive. Preference will be given to local adopters, as they will still need to complete their spay/neuter procedures when they're old enough.
