Their Journey So Far

1. Welcome to the Pack

   August 29, 2026

   Pretty was sitting in an overcrowded shelter when one of the volunteers took an immediate liking to her — and once you meet this girl, it's really not hard to understand why. She's about 11 months old, and we believe she's a Dutch Shepherd mix. But her actual breed? One hundred percent pure sweet. She's incredibly friendly, outgoing, affectionate and gentle. She's very smart, eager to please, dog friendly, kid friendly, and just an all-around amazing young dog. We have tried. We genuinely cannot come up with one bad thing to say about her. Pretty is now safely out of the shelter and settling into a loving foster home. Next up, we'll be getting her spayed, and then she'll be ready to start looking for the family lucky enough to call her theirs. We are so incredibly thankful to Pretty's foster family for seeing what an amazing dog she is and opening their home and their hearts to give her this chance. Fosters are quite literally the reason we can say yes to dogs like Pretty. Pretty's forever family is out there. But for now, she's safe. She's loved. And her next chapter has officially begun. 2. Spay Day

   September 4, 2026

   Pretty and Fawn may look a little pitiful today, but these two girls just got one of the greatest gifts we can give them. They were both spayed today, which means Pretty can head into her next chapter without ever having to worry about pregnancy or unwanted litters. Just a carefree life filled with a family who loves her, adventures, belly rubs, and all the good stuff she deserves. This is such an important part of rescue, and your support is what makes it possible. 3. A Family Dog Without a Family

   September 5, 2026

   Her name is Pretty, and although she's gorgeous, we probably should have called her Joy, because this girl is just ridiculously happy to be here. About a year old, a Dutch Shepherd mix, around 43 pounds. Pretty was rescued from an overcrowded shelter after what we can only assume was a pretty rough start to life, but you would never know it from meeting her. She is outgoing, confident, gentle, affectionate, and absolutely delighted by people. She approaches life like she just won the lottery, and honestly, maybe she knows she did. Pretty loves her people. Belly rubs? Yes. Couch cuddles? Absolutely. Being included in whatever you're doing? Non-negotiable. Her foster mom says her least favorite thing might simply be being left out; Pretty has some serious FOMO and is happiest wherever her humans and dog friends happen to be. She also loves other dogs and has been having a blast with the dogs in her foster home. She's playful and still has some goofy puppy energy, but she's not hyper: she'll happily wrestle and romp outside, then come inside and completely pass out on the couch. She's still learning that not every dog wants to party quite as enthusiastically as she does, and she's already getting much better at reading their cues. For a girl who's still figuring out this whole family-dog thing, she's doing amazingly well. Pretty is essentially house trained and learning her new routine, has made huge progress with crate training and sleeps in her crate overnight, walks beautifully on leash without pulling, and is an excellent passenger in the car. One of the sweetest things about Pretty is watching her discover normal life. Sometimes it seems like she's experiencing the simplest things for the very first time, and every day a little more of her personality comes out. And what a personality it is. She's silly. She's snuggly. She's playful. She's affectionate. She's confident and curious about the world. She loves balls and stuffed animals, naps and adventures, other dogs and, most of all, being part of a family. Her foster mom described it perfectly: Pretty is blossoming. Now this sweet family dog just needs a family of her own.

   

4. Officially Ready for Adoption

   September 9, 2026

   We genuinely have no idea how this dog ended up homeless. Because if someone handed us a checklist for an amazing family dog, Pretty would just keep checking boxes. Pretty is officially ready for adoption, and we're calling it now: someone is going to hit the rescue-dog jackpot with this girl. She's a gorgeous, approximately 1-year-old Dutch Shepherd mix, and while she certainly lives up to her name, her looks might actually be the least impressive thing about her. She currently lives in a foster home with other dogs and a toddler, and she is fabulous with both. She's potty trained. She walks beautifully on a leash. She loves people. And thanks to her amazing foster mom, she has blossomed into such a happy, well-rounded family dog. Pretty's biggest weakness? Belly rubs. This girl absolutely adores people. Give her some love, scratch that belly, and congratulations, you now have a new best friend. At about a year old and medium-sized, Pretty is past the tiny-puppy stage but still young enough for years and years of adventures with her future family. She's playful, affectionate, social, and just an all-around good dog. Dog friendly, toddler approved, potty trained, great on leash, people obsessed, and professionally Pretty. Seriously, if you've been waiting for one of those rescue dogs who makes you think, "How is she still available?", this is her. Don't wait until we're posting Pretty's adoption photo and kick yourself for not applying. This girl is going to make one very lucky family ridiculously happy.

5. Still Waiting for Her Person

   September 10, 2026

   Pretty has a serious problem: she is way too adoptable to still be looking for a family. She's dog-friendly, kid-friendly, potty trained, ridiculously sweet, and frankly excellent family-dog material — beautiful, affectionate, great on leash, food-motivated, and working hard on her house manners. Basically, Pretty would like to know what more you people want from her. Somebody adopt this girl before she has to start adding things to her résumé.

   

6. She Passed the Cat Test

   September 13, 2026

   After more than 20 years in rescue, it takes a lot for a dog to really impress us. Pretty did. Her foster went out of town for a night, which meant we got the privilege of a sleepover with this gorgeous girl. We already knew Pretty was fantastic with dogs and kids of all ages, house trained, affectionate, joyful, and just an incredibly easy dog to love. But the sleepover let us check one more box: cats. Most dogs can learn to be cat friendly — but sometimes, they don't even have to learn it. That's Pretty. She was naturally curious about the cats, but gentle and respectful. No drama, no obsession, just easy coexistence. So now we know: dogs, kids, cats, house trained, sweet, affectionate, friendly, joyful, gorgeous. Pretty truly checks every box, and we cannot understand how her forever family hasn't found her yet. Somewhere out there is the family who has been looking for exactly this dog.

   

7. Adopted!

   September 20, 2026

   Pretty is officially adopted! She came to us because her foster mom, Blake, wasn't going to let her face an uncertain future alone — Blake and her family reached out, asked us to help save Pretty, and offered to foster her while we searched for her forever home. They did exactly what fosters do: gave her a safe place to land, loved her, helped her settle in, worked on training basics, and got her ready for the family that would eventually call her theirs. Today they did the hardest part — they said goodbye, because all of that love paid off. Pretty is headed to a wonderful home where she'll be loved, adored, and snuggled to her heart's content. This is what fostering is: loving a dog like she's yours so that one day, with a happy heart and maybe a few tears, you can hand her to the family she was always meant to find. Thank you to Blake and her fabulous family for giving Pretty her comeback, and to Pretty's adopter for choosing her and giving this very deserving girl her forever. Happy life, Pretty — you did it, sweet girl.
