Every dog has a story
Molly
Molly is a senior Lab mix, about 10 years old and around 43 pounds, and Lucy's sister. She is an incredibly sweet, affectionate and independent girl who lives happily with several dogs and is fine with older kids, though she would do best in a home without very young children. Her whole world disappeared in a matter of days, but after time in foster care she is now available for adoption.

Their Journey So Far
Out of the Shelter
September 23, 2026Molly, Roxy, and Lucy had lost their home and their person, and they landed in an overcrowded shelter, confused and waiting. That was when we made a promise: Operation No Dog Left Behind. Today all three walked out of the shelter. Roxy and Lucy each have a foster home, and we've learned that Molly is Lucy's sister. She's a senior, about 10 years old, a Lab mix around 70 pounds, and an incredibly sweet, affectionate girl. She's dog-friendly and has met children and done well with them. We haven't found Molly's foster yet, and we desperately need someone willing to give her a soft place to land. She's just a sweet old girl who has done absolutely nothing wrong, and she's confused. Fosters must be local to the Murrieta, CA area.

How the Promise Started
September 24, 2026Roxy, Lucy and Molly belonged to Justine's father and stepmother. When her stepmother passed away and her father was hospitalized, the three dogs ended up at an overcrowded shelter. Justine reached out to us for help, and even in the middle of her own grief, she kept showing up for them: tracking down medical records, coordinating with the shelter, and telling us exactly what each dog needed. That's when we made a promise: Operation No Dog Left Behind. We weren't going to get one out, or two — we were going to get all three out alive, together. It took a small army — everyone who shared, applied, offered help, transported, coordinated or simply cared — to make that happen. Today, all three are safe. Roxy and Lucy each have a foster home. Molly is staying with Justine for now, but given everything she's carrying, that can only be temporary, and Molly still needs a foster of her own.
Reunited with Lucy
October 1, 2026After both of their parents passed away, Molly and her sister Lucy ended up in the shelter together — and when we stepped in to save all three girls, we had to make a difficult decision. We didn't have a foster who could take more than one of them, so we split them up to get everyone out alive. Thankfully, all three have been doing well in their foster homes, but after Molly and Lucy lost their parents, their home, and then each other, we knew having that familiar face again might make this next chapter a little easier. Then the foster who was already caring for Lucy offered to take Molly too. Today, the sisters were reunited. Watching them see each other again after spending their entire lives side by side was such a beautiful moment. We're still evaluating their medical needs, so neither girl is available for adoption just yet, and while we'd love to find a home where they could stay together, they each connect well with other dogs too, so we don't believe they'll necessarily need to be adopted as a pair. For now, these sisters get to be together again. We're so thankful to the foster dad who opened his home to not one, but two large senior girls.
Doing So Well
October 4, 2026Our sweet golden girls are doing so well. We discovered that Lucy and Molly picked up some pretty yucky parasites during their time in the shelter. They're being treated now, and thankfully, they're feeling good and continuing to settle beautifully into foster care. And the more comfortable they get, the more we're learning about who they really are. It's really cute to see Lucy and Molly snuggled up together. They're sisters who love everyone, including each other. But one of the most important things we've learned in foster care is that they do just as well apart as they do together. Their foster dad has intentionally given them time apart so we can see how each girl does independently, and both have done beautifully. While they're very similar in a lot of ways, we're also starting to see their individual personalities emerge. Molly does great with other dogs, but she's also perfectly content being the only dog as long as she has plenty of human companionship. She's a little more outgoing, confident and independent. Lucy really thrives with canine companionship. She loves other dogs and has such a nurturing spirit. So if Lucy isn't adopted with Molly, we will require that her forever home have at least one other dog for her to hang out with. Both girls are incredibly sweet, affectionate, easygoing and well-mannered. And learning that they can thrive separately is really important to us. Of course, there's something undeniably heartwarming about imagining two sisters walking into the same forever home together. If the right home for both of them comes along, we would absolutely love that. But our job is to look beyond what makes the sweetest story and pay attention to what the dogs themselves are actually telling us they need. Lucy and Molly are individuals. They have different personalities, different needs, and potentially different ideal homes. Foster care gives us the opportunity to really get to know them, not just as the two sisters who arrived together, but as Lucy and Molly. And what they've shown us is incredibly reassuring: they are happy together, and they are happy apart. And we have to give a HUGE thank you to their foster dad. We're pretty sure he's some kind of dog wizard. The stressed-out girls who came home from the shelter are finally relaxed, comfortable and happy. We're seeing a completely different side of them now, and learning more about their personalities every single day. They're not quite ready for adoption yet, but they will be soon. So keep your eyes peeled if you've ever thought about giving a golden girl the best years of her life.
The Dogs Have Unionized
October 9, 2026Breaking news: the dogs have unionized. Negotiations are underway, tensions are high, and management (aka their foster dad) is refusing to comment. Lucy and Molly are leading the charge, demanding better working conditions, increased treat compensation, and unrestricted access to the good spots on Dad's bed. A snuggle strike has been threatened, but sources close to the negotiations say neither girl has the self-control to follow through. In other news, Lucy is officially available for adoption! Molly is just a few steps behind her! These two 10-year-old sisters are sweet, hilarious, and full of personality. They can be adopted separately, although we're sure they'd happily negotiate a package deal.

Molly the Sidekick
October 25, 2026Don't count this old gal out! Molly is a 10-year-old Lab mix who came to us with her sister Lucy and another dog after their owner passed away. She lives with several dogs and gets along with all of them, and she's fine with older kids but would do best in a home without very young children. Her dental work is done and her medical needs have been addressed. She's an independent lady, and now she's available for adoption.
Now It's Molly's Turn
November 1, 2026Molly watched both of her sisters find their forever homes. Now it's her turn. Molly is a 10-year-old Black Lab mix who came to us after her parents passed away. She and her two sisters ended up in a high-kill shelter, with their whole world turned upside down. We rescued all three, and Lucy and Roxy have since found their forever families. But sweet Molly is still waiting. Molly had some medical issues that required surgery, but that's all behind her now! She's healing like a champ and doing wonderfully. Molly is just a really easy dog to love. She's great in the car, walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys leisurely outings (especially strolling the aisles of Home Depot!), and gets along with respectful dogs. She doesn't need a ton of exercise or constant entertainment. She's perfectly happy just hanging out with her people and soaking up all the love she can get. If you're looking for a calm, loving, low-key companion, Molly might just be your girl. She's got so much love left to give, and she just needs someone to give her a chance. Please share Molly! Her sisters got their happy endings, and we'd really love to see Molly get hers, too.
