Every dog has a story

    Willowdean

Willowdean was one of the shelter's longest residents — until Anna, who'd recently lost her own beloved husky, saw her story online and couldn't stop thinking about her. It was love at first sight at their meet and greet, and now Willowdean finally has the home she waited so long for.

    Their Journey So Far

    1. Rescued

      July 28, 2026

Willowdean (formerly Willow) was one of the shelter's longest residents — a staff and volunteer favorite that no one had come for. Today, The Comeback Pack walked her out the front doors.

    2. Settling In

      July 29, 2026

Tonight, after we got home from dinner with friends, Willowdean came running to greet us with a wagging tail — snuggling in right alongside Dumplin' like she'd always been part of the family. Moments like this don't happen by accident: they're the result of shelter staff, animal control officers, and volunteers who refused to give up on a dog the world had overlooked.

    3. No One Chose Her

Willowdean isn't your typical husky. She's calm, quiet, and incredibly gentle — the kind of dog who'll lay next to you for movie night or hop in the car for an adventure. She came to the shelter emaciated as part of a welfare case and watched dog after dog leave while she stayed behind, eventually becoming one of the shelter's longest residents. We honestly can't figure out why. Now it's Willowdean's turn: a loyal, easygoing companion who loves people and gets along with everyone — dogs, cats, and kids.

    4. Adopted!

      August 15, 2026

Willowdean is adopted! We met her before there even was a Comeback Pack, and when we learned she was still at the shelter — one of its longest residents — we knew we had to bring her along on our new journey. Her story reached more than 100,000 views, and that's how Anna found her: newly without her own beloved husky, not sure she was ready for another dog, but unable to stop thinking about Willowdean. At their meet and greet, it was love at first sight — two hearts that needed a little healing found each other.

    5. A New Sister

      August 17, 2026

Just a little Willowdean update, because we know so many of you fell in love with this sweet girl — look at her snuggling with her new sister! We are so thankful for Anna and her son, who are patient, loving, and kind: everything we wanted for a girl who's already experienced so much heartache in her life. Letting go of a beloved foster is one of the hardest parts of rescue, but seeing her safe, loved, and living her very best life makes every hard moment worth it. This is the part we do it for.
