Every dog has a story
Krueger
Krueger, formerly Roscoe, is one of two longtime shelter residents who were completely overlooked for months until The Comeback Pack's final plea on Halloween 2026. Fosters, a last-minute transporter and a donor came together on the last day he could be chosen, and he and his kennel mate Myers are now safe and part of the pack.

Their Journey So Far
This Halloween Story Has a Happy Ending
October 31, 2026It was our Hail Mary. Our final plea. We were praying for a miracle. Today was Roscoe and Toby's last day to be chosen. Two of the shelter's longest residents, completely overlooked for months. And with today being Halloween, we knew people were busy. We weren't sure we could pull this off. But you heard our call. First, you started sharing our post. Then TWO people stepped up to foster. Then we found a transporter. And the shelter hustled to do everything they possibly could to help us help these boys. Our little village did it! We are beyond happy to announce that Roscoe and Toby are safe! Both boys are officially part of The Comeback Pack! A very special thank you to Blake for helping coordinate, to Deva, Lysa, and Jake for stepping up to foster, to Laura for making a last-minute transport happen, and to Susan for her incredibly generous donation to help with veterinary care. We are so thankful to every single person who shared, commented, offered help, donated, or cheered these boys on. Of course, bringing dogs into rescue comes with expenses, and these boys are no exception. From veterinary care and vaccinations to food, supplies, and everything else they need while they're with us, it all adds up. If you can help us continue giving dogs like these two a second chance, please consider donating. Every dollar helps us save the next dog who needs us. Roscoe and Toby can't tell you how thankful they are, but their happy eyes and wagging tails tell us everything we need to know. And since it's Halloween, we've decided these boys deserve some new names to go with their new beginnings. Meet Myers (formerly Toby) and Krueger (formerly Roscoe)! These boys have lived through their own nightmares, but those days are officially behind them. Welcome to the pack, boys. This is where your comeback begins.
Scary Name, Ridiculously Sweet Dog
November 5, 2026Krueger: scary name, ridiculously sweet dog. He's got a killer name, a heart of gold, and absolutely no plans to murder anything except his squeaky toys. Krueger was rescued from the shelter on Halloween, earning him a name inspired by a certain horror movie villain. But trust us, the only scary thing about this boy is how fast you'll fall in love with him! At just 1.5 years old, this handsome 65-pound Shepherd mix is the total package: brains, beauty, and a big personality! He loves belly rubs, squeaky toys, and his favorite plush owl. He's equally happy playing or lounging on an ottoman like he pays the mortgage. He's house trained, crate trained, and knows sit, shake, and lay down! He takes treats gently and patiently waits for his meals. Such a gentleman! Now, does Krueger have a few quirks? Of course! He's a reformed slipper thief, can get a little excited on leash, and occasionally subscribes to the "finders keepers" philosophy when it comes to his toys. He's working on sharing, so a home with older kids and someone committed to continuing his training would be ideal. But here's the thing: Krueger is a really good dog. He's sweet, affectionate, smart, playful, and already has so many wonderful manners. He's just looking for someone who appreciates a big, goofy Shepherd with a whole lot of love to give. He spent far too long being overlooked at the shelter. Let's not let that happen again.
