Getting Attached Means You Did It Right

Getting attached to a foster dog means you gave them exactly what they needed — love, safety, and a place to belong, even if only for a little while. Saying goodbye isn't easy. But every goodbye opens your home to another dog who desperately needs that same second chance.

If you truly love dogs, fostering is one of the most meaningful ways to save lives. The goal was never to avoid getting attached. It's to love a dog enough to let them go, so you can save the next one.

We'll be there to support you every step of the way — including when it's time to say goodbye.

We Celebrate the Hard Part, Too

Our young foster heroes get something special when their foster dog gets adopted: a Foster Hero Certificate and a small plush dog, to help them celebrate the life they helped save instead of just mourning the goodbye.

A Few More Questions We Hear a Lot

• How long will I foster? Every dog is different — some are adopted in a few days, others stay for several months. We actively promote every foster dog to find them a home as fast as possible.
• Do I have to attend appointments? We ask fosters to bring their dog to vet visits and adoption events when needed, and we schedule everything as conveniently as we can.
• What if I have a vacation planned? No problem — just give us a heads-up and we'll arrange temporary care.
• Do you need short-term fosters? Yes! Respite fosters who can only take a dog for a short stretch are incredibly valuable too.
