Why We Don't Accept Every Owner Surrender

Every rescue has to decide where its limited foster homes, volunteer hours, and resources will have the greatest impact.

At The Comeback Pack, we've made the decision to focus on the dogs who have no one else — the ones abandoned, neglected, overlooked in shelters, or simply out of time. Those are the dogs who need us most.

Our New Policy

As a general rule, we don't accept owner surrenders simply because someone no longer wants or has time for their dog. We believe bringing a dog into your family is a lifelong commitment, and we'd rather help you keep that commitment than help you walk away from it.

That doesn't mean we believe everyone who needs to rehome a dog is a bad person. Life can change in heartbreaking ways.

When We Make Exceptions

We understand that life can change in heartbreaking ways. We may be able to help when:

• An owner has experienced a sudden medical emergency
• An owner has passed away
• There are extraordinary circumstances where rehoming truly is in the dog's best interest

We'll do everything we reasonably can to help or connect you with resources in these situations.

Our Mission

This policy isn't about judgment. It's about making the best use of the limited space we have. Every foster home we fill with a dog that still has options is one less foster home available for a dog who has none.

We prioritize dogs who have no one else and nowhere else to go — our limited foster homes and resources are dedicated to giving these dogs a second chance at life.
