There's No Such Thing as a Free Dog

Infographic titled 'There Is No Such Thing As A Free Dog' showing The Comeback Pack's transparent adoption fees and what's included with every adopted dog

A dog's adoption fee is a one-time cost. Everything that comes after — food, veterinary care, training, enrichment, and years of love and attention — is the real investment.

We're not looking for people who want the cheapest dog. We're looking for people who are ready to make a commitment.

    Our Transparent Adoption Fees

    • Seniors (7+ years): $100
    • Adult dogs (1–6 years): $200
    • Puppies (under 1 year): $400

Puppies usually need more vaccines and supplies, which is part of why their fee runs a little higher.

Update, August 13, 2026: We lowered our senior and adult fees (shown above) to help more of our dogs find their forever homes. We also just launched Seniors for Seniors — adults 65+ can adopt a senior dog (7+) from us completely free, though you'll still need to apply and be approved through our normal process. Learn more on our Adopt page.

Every dog we adopt out also comes home with:

    • Spay or neuter
    • Microchip
    • Age-appropriate vaccines
    • A starter kit for new adopters (while supplies last)

We don't even break even on our adoption fees. We keep them reasonable because our goal isn't to price wonderful families out of adoption — it's to find families who are prepared for the lifelong commitment of caring for a dog.

    A Note About "Free" Dogs

Free adoption events save lives, and we wholeheartedly support them — they help shelters move dogs into homes when space is desperately needed.

But if you're specifically searching for a free dog because you don't want to invest in one, remember this: that dog isn't really free. Sooner or later, every dog will need veterinary care, food, supplies, training, and plenty of your time and attention. The purchase price disappears quickly. The commitment doesn't.
